A small plane crashed in a mangrove swamp in Chachoengsao Province in eastern Thailand on Thursday afternoon, killing all nine people on board, including five Chinese tourists from Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Immigration Department said it has not received any calls for help from Hong Kong residents and will pay close attention on the developments.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the Chinese Embassy in Thailand quoted Thai authorities as saying that five Chinese people died in the accident. Thai media reported that two of them were 12 and 13 years old respectively, and the other three were between 42 and 45 years old.

The Governor of Chachoengsao Province revealed the identities of the deceased at the accident scene on the night of the incident, including 5 Chinese tourists from Hong Kong, 2 Thai female crew members, and two pilots and deputy pilots respectively.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand earlier reported that the crashed plane was a non-scheduled flight from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Trat Province, and the authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
