The Department of Health (DH), in response to recent media reports that a member of the public was injured after receiving “bone-setting” service provided by a suspected non-medical professional The DH pointed out that any person practicing 13 types of medical professions including Chinese medicine practitioners, physiotherapists and chiropractors, or using the titles of the relevant medical professions without registration may violate the relevant legislation. They appealed to members of the public to confirm the qualifications of the service providers and seek medical consultation from regulated healthcare professionals before accepting medical services for diagnosis or higher-risk treatments.
