The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday that it had destroyed several Houthi military assets in Yemen over the past 24 hours. CENTCOM reported on the social media platform X that its forces had destroyed three uncrewed aerial vehicles and two missile systems in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen. According to CENTCOM, these assets posed "a clear and imminent threat" to various maritime interests in the area. The incident is part of a broader escalation of tensions in the region. Since November 2023, the Houthis have intensified their military operations in the Red Sea, targeting vessels they believe to be Israeli or bound for Israel. The group stated that their military operations were aimed at showing support for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
