Yinxing has moved across the northern South China Sea and intensified slightly
9/11/2024 6:20
Alert Signal No. 1 is now in effect. The Observatory stated that in the past few hours, Super Typhoon Yinxing continued to move steadily westward, crossing the northern part of the South China Sea and intensifying slightly. As the circulation of Yinxing is still relatively small, the strong winds related to Yinxing have not generally affected Hong Kong this morning. Alert Signal No. 1 will be maintained at least until noon today. Under the combined influence of Yinxing and the northeast monsoon, winds along the Guangdong coast may increase from later today to early tomorrow. The Observatory will consider whether it needs to be modified depending on the distance between Yinxing and the Pearl River Estuary, the intensity of Yinxing and local wind changes. Strong wind signal No. 3 is issued.
