The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Tuesday announced a significant advancement in Al Kamlin and its surrounding villages in central Sudan while sources said it has regained control of the city.
The SAF posted videos on its official Facebook page showing citizens celebrating its advancement in Al Kamlin, 65 km south of the capital Khartoum and the last stronghold of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Gezira State.
A caption accompanying the videos noted "the military's major advancement" in the city and the "cleaning" of the city from the RSF.
Meanwhile, independent news portal Sudan Tribune, citing Abdul-Moneim Abdul-Basit, commander of the SAF's mobile unit in Sennar, said the SAF "liberated" and retook control of Al Kamlin on Tuesday after days of fierce battles, and "is determined to advance towards Khartoum."
