Iran's police arrest 13 IS & terrorists

Iranian police forces have arrested 13 members of a "terrorist" network affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) in several Iranian provinces, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.

The arrests were made in a "large-scale and complicated" operation by the counterterrorism unit of Iran's Law Enforcement Command over the past days in the provinces of Tehran, Isfahan, Qom and Alborz, Tasnim quoted Iranian police spokesman Saeed Montazer-al-Mahdi as saying.

He added the "suicide and terrorist" network sought to perpetrate acts of sabotage and carry out bombing attacks in a number of the recently held ceremonies in the country, stressing that all of its members, including the ringleader, backup teams and suicide attackers, were captured.

Montazer-al-Mahdi said during the operation, a number of suicide vests and backpacks were seized from the "terrorists."
