Dutch rail strike to halt train services nationwide on Tuesday

Train services across the Netherlands will come to a halt on Tuesday as a strike by railway unions expands to cover much of the country, Dutch Railways (NS) announced on Sunday.
"Due to a strike organized by the trade unions in large parts of North Holland, South Holland, Zeeland, and West Brabant, no NS trains will run nationwide on Tuesday, June 10," NS said in a statement posted on its website.
"The strike zone has become too extensive, affecting nearly all train routes. A nationwide disruption is unavoidable," it added.
Despite the strike, a limited train service will continue to run four times per hour between Amsterdam Central and Hoofddorp via Schiphol Airport.
The impact on international trains and services to and from Schiphol Airport remains uncertain, it said, advising travelers with international tickets to check its website from Monday for updates.
NS expects to resume normal service on Wednesday, or June 11, though morning delays may occur.
