12/1/2025 6:26
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his visiting Eritrean counterpart, Osman Saleh Mohammed, reaffirmed their opposition on Saturday to any unilateral interference in Somalia's domestic affairs.

Speaking at a televised joint press conference alongside Mohammed and Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, the foreign minister of Somalia, Abdelatty emphasized, "Egypt and Eritrea will provide all possible support for Somalia to regain control of its entire territory."

The ministers outlined plans to cooperate in strengthening Somalia's military capabilities, particularly in combating terrorism and maintaining national unity.

In addition, the three diplomats discussed enhancing cooperation among Red Sea states, including Egypt and Eritrea, to bolster security in the vital maritime corridor.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's stance on Red Sea security, stating, "Security in the Red Sea should remain the responsibility of the bordering countries. We do not accept any foreign military presence in the region," underscoring Egypt's firm opposition to the involvement of non-Red Sea nations in regional security arrangements.

The trilateral talks also covered efforts to preserve Sudan's unity and to intensify initiatives aimed at boosting security and stability across the Horn of Africa.
