A fire was suspected to have occurred in the pipeline of the MTR Central Station due to a short circuit in the wires. No one was injured and train services were not affected.
At about 11pm last night, the police received a report from an MTR staff member that a fire broke out in a train duct at Central Station. When the fire department arrived at the scene, they found that a fire was suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in the train duct on Platform 1 of the Tsuen Wan Line at Central Station. The fire was subsequently put out. No one was injured in the incident and no evacuation was required.
Trains were temporarily stopped from entering Platform 1, and passengers had to use Platform 2 to take the Tsuen Wan Line trains. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire department.
