Hong Kong restaurant business improved in the fourth quarter of last year

The Census and Statistics Department released the latest provisional figures on restaurant receipts and purchases.
Hong Kong's restaurant business improved in the fourth quarter of last year, with total restaurant revenue value regaining a year-on-year growth of 0.4%. After seasonal adjustment, the quarterly growth accelerated to 3%. The provisional estimate of total restaurant purchases in the fourth quarter of last year was HK$8.9 billion, down 2.5% year-on-year.
Although the change in consumption patterns of citizens and tourists will still have an impact on restaurant business; looking forward, the central government has introduced a number of measures to stimulate the mainland economy and benefit Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong SAR government has actively boosted the market atmosphere and promoted the tourism industry, as well as increased employment and income, which will continue to provide support for restaurant business.
