Hong Kong Post continues to suspend mail services for goods sent to the US

Hong Kong Post will continue to suspend mailing services for goods sent to the United States until further notice, and needs to further clarify the US's request for additional tariffs.



The US Postal Service suddenly notified Hong Kong Post on Wednesday that it could not ship mail containing goods to the US, effective immediately, unless the mail had submitted a complete and correct formal declaration to the US Customs and Border Protection in accordance with US law. The US Postal Service changed its tune that evening and announced that it would resume accepting the mail.



A Hong Kong government spokesman said that Hong Kong Post has communicated with the US Postal Service, but there are still issues that need to be further clarified, including the US's request for additional tariffs. The Hong Kong government reiterated that it is strongly dissatisfied with the US's imposition of tariffs on Hong Kong products and urged the US to take immediate action to correct its wrongdoings to avoid confusion and inconvenience to the public due to frequent policy changes.
