Colombian president asks cabinet ministers to resign

Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced on social platform X on Sunday his call for the resignation of his government ministers as part of an effort to fully comply with the national development plan.
"There will be some changes in the cabinet to achieve greater compliance with the program ordered by the people," explained the president.
Petro said changes will be made because his administration, which ends in 2026, will focus entirely on fulfilling the program initiated at the beginning of his four-year term.
The Colombian president criticized his ministers for underperforming at a meeting held last week.
Environment Minister Susana Muhamad, Culture Minister Juan David Correa and Labor Minister Gloria Ines Ramirez have so far announced their resignations.
