1 dead, 11 injured after train accident in Germany

One person was killed, and 11 others were injured after a high-speed train collided with a semi-trailer at a railway in Hamburg, Germany, on Tuesday, according to a fire department spokesperson.



The accident occurred on the outskirts of Hamburg when an InterCity Express (ICE) train en route from Hamburg to Munich crashed into the semi-trailer at high speed. One passenger sustained critical injuries and died shortly after the collision, the spokesman said.



Among the 11 injured, one person was in serious conditions, while ten others suffered minor injuries. The force of the impact shattered windows, particularly in the front carriages, the German news agency dpa cited an eyewitness as saying.
