King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday reiterated Jordan's rejection of any attempts to annex land and displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
The king made the remarks at a meeting in Amman with a U.S. Congress delegation led by Senator Richard Blumenthal, according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court.
"His Majesty reiterated Jordan's rejection of any attempts to annex land and displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for ensuring the sustainability of the Gaza ceasefire and stepping up the international humanitarian response," said the statement.
The king noted that achieving just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution is the only way to ensure regional security and stability. He also highlighted the pivotal role of the United States in supporting peace efforts.
During the meeting, the king also stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and expressed Jordan's keenness to strengthen it across all fields.
