A fire broke out in a unit at Happy Garden, Tai Wai, and two people were sent to hospital due to inhaling thick smoke and felt unwell. About 50 people were evacuated.



At about 10 o'clock last night, a unit at Happy Garden, Chui Tin Street, Tai Wai caught fire and emitted thick smoke.



The firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving the report, and dispatched a hose and a team of smoke helmets to open the hose to put out the fire. After about 20 minutes, the fire was put out. A couple in the unit reported feeling unwell and were sent to hospital for examination by ambulance. During the fire, about 50 residents evacuated to the basement on their own.



After the firefighters' preliminary investigation, it was suspected that the short circuit of the dehumidifier wires caused the fire.
