Building fire kills 2 in Japan's Kawasaki

A fire destroyed a building housing both a restaurant and residential units in Kawasaki City on Saturday, leaving two people dead, local media reported.



According to police and fire officials, a nearby resident noticed flames coming from a two-story building in Japan's Kawasaki Ward and reported it to emergency services at around 2:30 a.m. local time.



The fire is believed to have started on the second floor of the building, which housed residential units above a restaurant on the first floor, national broadcaster NHK reported.



The fire completely burned the wooden two-story building, and two bodies were discovered in the remains.



Police are working to confirm their identities while investigating the cause of the fire.
