"The Siege of Kowloon Walled City" won 9 awards

The 43rd Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony was held at the Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Center last night.



The Siege of Kowloon Walled City is the big winner, with nine awards, two of which are Best Film and Best Director.



"Broken Hell", which explores the connections between people and the issues of life and death, won five awards. Wei Shiya, who played the daughter of Master Nguyen, became the Best Actress for the first time. The theme song of "Broken Hell", which was written and sung by singer Ka-him Lam, won him his first Best Original Song Award.



Three actors in "Daddy", adapted from the Hong Kong Lun Chang tragedy, won the award. Lau Ching-wan, who played the father, won the Best Actor and won the Academy Award four times; Gu Zu-lin, who played the mother, won the Best Supporting Actress for the first time; Su Wen-tao, who played the son in the film, won the Best New Actor.



Emerging director belongs to Hong Kong-born British director Robin Lee who directed the documentary "Hong Kong Four Paths". The best Asian Chinese film is "Old Fox". Director Tsui Hark and filmmaker Shi Nansheng were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
