Qatar to provide 20 mln USD in aid to UN agency for Palestinian refugees

Qatar announced on Tuesday a 20 million U.S. dollars contribution to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).



In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that an agreement was signed here between the Qatar Fund for Development, a government entity, and UNRWA to provide the UN agency with an annual contribution of 10 million dollars for the years 2025 and 2026.



Qatar had previously contributed 18 million dollars to the agency in 2023 and 2024.



Additionally, 20 million dollars were allocated in 2024 to address UNRWA's urgent needs amid a decline in international funding for its operations, according to the statement.
