2 women fatally stabbed at a "girls bar" in central Japan

Two women working at a so-called girls' bar in Hamamatsu City in central Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture were fatally stabbed early Sunday, with a man arrested at the scene, local media reported.



Ichiro Yamashita, resident of Fukuroi, Shizuoka Prefecture, is suspected of attacking Tomoka Takeuchi, the 27-year-old manager, and Rin Ito, a 26-year-old employee, around 1 a.m. local time at the bar, where women serve drinks over the counter, Kyodo News reported.



Police arrested the suspect on the spot and are currently investigating the details of the incident. According to the police, Yamashita has admitted to the stabbings.



The two victims, both residents of Hamamatsu, were taken to a hospital in serious condition but were later pronounced dead, the police said.
