China calls for more practical results with Pacific Island countries

China is willing to work with Pacific Island countries to deepen the ministerial-level dialogue mechanism on police capacity building and cooperation, and strive to achieve more practical results, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong said Tuesday.

Wang made the remarks while delivering a speech at the fifth ministerial dialogue on police capacity building and cooperation between China and the Pacific Island countries in Beijing.

Since the establishment of the ministerial dialogue mechanism, Wang said, the foundation of mutual trust between China and Pacific Island countries has grown stronger. Training and exchanges have deepened and solidified, law enforcement cooperation has been practical and effective, and police authorities have built closer bonds and greater mutual understanding. This has played a positive role in promoting regional prosperity, stability and development.
