China, Canada reach specific arrangements to address trade issues
China and Canada have reached specific arrangements to properly address trade issues related to electric vehicles (EVs), steel and aluminum products, rapeseed, and agricultural and aquatic products, China's Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.
To implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Canada, both sides have recently conducted multiple rounds of intensive consultations at various levels, focusing on key economic and trade issues of mutual concern, the ministry noted in a statement.
The two sides have reached positive consensus on increasing direct flights, improving the business environment, and inspection and quarantine of agricultural products, it said.
During Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to China, the two countries signed an economic and trade cooperation roadmap, a major achievement under the framework of the China-Canada new strategic partnership, the statement quoted an official with the ministry as saying.
The two sides agreed to enhance the China-Canada Joint Economic and Trade Commission mechanism and comprehensively expand pragmatic economic and trade cooperation across all fields. They also reached a positive consensus on cooperation under multilateral and regional frameworks, according to the roadmap.
