Turkiye, Nigeria vow to deepen trade, security cooperation

Turkiye and Nigeria have reaffirmed their commitment to reaching a 5-billion-U.S. dollar bilateral trade volume and agreed to deepen cooperation on security, energy and development, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said here Tuesday.

The announcement came after a meeting between Erdogan and visiting Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.

"During our meeting, we reaffirmed our commitment to the 5-billion-dollar trade volume target and discussed the steps to be taken," Erdogan said at a joint press conference.

Erdogan said Turkiye stands with Nigeria in its fight against terrorism, with both sides evaluating closer cooperation on military training and intelligence sharing. He also welcomed energy cooperation between Turkish and Nigerian firms.
