Severe weather triggers landslides, flooding across Greece

Heavy rainfall and strong winds struck multiple parts of Greece in recent days, triggering landslides, flooding and extensive damage to infrastructure.

Western and central Greece have experienced persistent heavy rain, while strong winds struck coastal areas along the Ionian Sea and the Aegean Sea, and the western coastal region of Preveza was among the hardest hit.

In the coastal town of Mytikas, floodwaters damaged agricultural and livestock facilities, and several major transport routes were blocked by landslides.

According to the report, on the northwestern Ionian island of Corfu, a coastal road was destroyed, and a bridge was swept away by floodwaters.

Authorities have warned that as severe weather continues, further damage and traffic disruptions are likely.
