Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam visited Syria and met with Syrian interim leader Ahmed al-Sharaa on Saturday to discuss economic and security coordination, according to Syrian state media.
The visit comes amid what both sides described as a new phase in Syrian-Lebanese relations, marked by high-level exchanges and efforts to rebuild ties on mutual respect and shared interests.
"We made major progress today in addressing our shared issues in a constructive spirit and with a commitment to cooperation between the two states without hesitation or reservation," Salam wrote on X following the visit.
He said the two sides discussed the challenges facing both Lebanon and Syria amid rapid regional developments and agreed to continue political consultations and intensify ministerial-level coordination.
