Egypt, Sudan reaffirm ties after Egyptians killed in Khartoum shooting

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Sudanese counterpart Mohi El-Din Salem reaffirmed ties between their countries during a phone call on Monday, following a shooting in Khartoum that killed two Egyptian truck drivers and injured another.

The two sides agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation, maintain close coordination and consultation, and continue efforts to strengthen ties in the interests of both countries, said a statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.

The call also addressed ways to implement the outcomes of the consultative quadrilateral summit held earlier this month in Egypt's coastal city of New Alamein, which brought together the leaders of Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea and Somalia, it said.
