Kai Tak Sports Park completed the last large-scale drill before its opening

17/2/2025 6:09
Kai Tak Sports Park completed the last large-scale rehearsal before the opening at 6pm last night. For the first time, all three venues of Kai Tak Sports Park were used at the same time, including the main stadium, the sports and arts center and the youth sports field. More than 50,000 civil servants and members of the public participated in this rehearsal, which is the largest number of public participation in history and can be regarded as a rehearsal for the opening ceremony. The age groups of the participating public this time are more diverse, which will help to review and optimize the entry and exit arrangements in the future.

The exercise also tested an online platform called "Easy Exit" that uses artificial intelligence for real-time data analysis. This platform displays the real-time time required for exit routes and crowd density, helping spectators choose the most suitable exit route, alleviating the pressure of large crowds and public transportation when large-scale events end. More than 10,000 people used the "Easy Exit" platform. The authorities said that with the close cooperation of all parties, the entire exercise process was smooth, achieving the expected results and test objectives. They are confident that the hardware and software of Kai Tak Sports Park are in place and ready for the official opening on the 1st of next month.

When asked about the total cost of the drill and test, Deputy Commissioner of Police Chow Yiu-ming, who served as the executive director of the inter-departmental drill team, said that civil servants would be charged $100 for travel expenses to participate in the drill, but the overall cost of the drill was not kept.
